The Site

The site, which is owned by Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) and a private forest investor, lies centrally within the Dumfries & Galloway Council area. 

Current Status

Scoping Report submitted to Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit (ECU) in October 2025.

Public Consultation

Force 9 is committed to open and transparent communication with the local community. We are planning two public exhibitions with the first taking place on Wednesday 29th October at Balmaclellan Village Hall and Glencairn Memorial Institute. More details can be found on the ‘Public Exhibition’ tab. We will welcome ongoing feedback on the proposals following the exhibitions.

Community Benefit

Force 9’s development partner, Vestas, is committed to paying Community Benefit at the Scottish Government recommended rate: currently at a value equivalent to £5,000 per Mega Watt of installed capacity, for every year of operation (anticipated to be 30 years), to help fund community projects.
